Local and Jamaican seafood on Five Cays Beach, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

From Omar's Beach Hut
Omar's Beach Hut is a beachfront restaurant on Five Cays Beach, on the south coast of Providenciales. We serve authentic local and Jamaican food for lunch and dinner, with fresh seafood from the Five Cays fishermen's dock next door.
Omar has been looking after guests in the Turks and Caicos for more than 20 years. He opened the Beach Hut in 2018, and it has become a favourite with residents and visitors alike. You will often find him out on the deck, making sure every table is happy.
Five Cays is a traditional fishing settlement, and the menu follows the catch: conch salad, cracked conch and conch fritters, whole fish roasted in foil, steamed, grilled, jerked, curried, blackened or fried escovitch style, and lobster from August to March. From the Jamaican side of the kitchen come oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken and jerk pork, with bammi, festival, sweet plantain and peas and rice on the side.
Tables sit on a covered deck and down on the sand, looking over shallow turquoise water where the local boats come in. We are about 20 minutes by car from Grace Bay and 10 minutes from the airport.

On the deck now
Tide times are approximate, from Open-Meteo's tide model for the waters off Providenciales: right for planning a visit, not for navigation.

The water in front of the deck is shallow, so the view changes with the tide: at low tide the sand flats are exposed, and at high tide the water comes up around the picnic tables on the beach.

A proper local beach shack in Five Cays and genuinely one of the best meals on the island. Fresh fish, cracked conch, cold beer and a view that costs nothing. The kind of place residents know and visitors rarely find. Worth the short drive out.
